Mitigation Strategies for the Forest Sector and Their Effectiveness in Bc
ثبت نشده
چکیده
The forest sector could potentially play an important role in mitigating human-caused climate change due to the forests' natural ability to sequester (absorb) atmospheric carbon [1]. Whether forests sequester more carbon than they release can be influenced by management strategies for forests and harvested wood products. With British Columbia’s forest sector removing an average of 62.8 Mt of CO2 from the atmosphere per year over the last 25 years, the province has a substantial potential to achieve increased mitigation benefits by implementing effective management strategies [2]. Applying regional-specific mitigation strategies to B.C.’s forests could contribute to the province’s greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction target of 80% below 2007 levels by 2050 [3].

Climate Change Impacts on Forest Growth and Mortality
In 2016, 197 nations signed the Paris Agreement and committed to limiting global temperature rise well below 2 o C [1], thus making understanding the potential for forests to mitigate climate change more important than ever. It is clear that by implementing region-specific mitigation strategies the forest sector can contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions [2]. However, while for...

متن کاملFuture Arctic temperature change resulting from a range of aerosol emissions scenarios
The Arctic temperature response to emissions of aerosols—specifically black carbon (BC), organic carbon (OC), and sulfate—depends on both the sector and the region where these emissions originate. Thus, the net Arctic temperature response to global aerosol emissions reductions will depend strongly on the blend of emissions sources being targeted. We use recently published equilibrium Arctic tem...

ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to evaluate the status of information on forest and data transfer and to identify the gaps in information and data flow in forestry sector in Iran. The study evaluated the data and information flow in three levels (control offices level, provincial offices level and organizational offices level) using the document analysis and questioning (interviews and ques...
